Third Conference on Crossfields of Arnside and the different boats they built. Crossfields were leading builders of Morecambe Boat Prawners, yachts and dinghies, including Arthur Ransome’s Swallow from the 1840 – 1940s. Arnside Sailing Club own Severn which was built by Crossfields in 1912 for the Royal Mersey Yacht Club.
Speakers will include Mike Beckett, the skipper of Bonita about the Round Britain Voyage in the summer 2023 to celebrate the the 60th anniversary of the OGA, the association for gaff rig sailing.. Bonita was built by Crossfields in Arnside in 1888.
The conference includes a buffet lunch. There be a programme of evening social activities and a chance to visit Lancaster Maritime Museum on Sunday (admission fee)
