Arnside Sailing Club’s Severn is due to take part in the Royal Barrow Festival of Seas.
Severn was built in Arnside by Crossfields in 1912 for the Royal Mersey Yacht Club. She was relaunched this year after £160,000 four year restoration by David Moss Boatbuilders at Skippool near Blackpool.
Severn will be accompanied by Hearts of Oak, a Morecambe Bay Prawner built in Ulverston in 1912, a Lune Whammel and a Loch Broom Post Boat. Lune Whammels were used to fish for salmon, whilst Post Boats delivered mail to remote Scottish communities.
Severn and the other three boats will be based at the south end of the Dock on Cavendish Dock Road LA14 2LA next to the Canoe Club and Funfair. There will also be a chance to see boats sailing up and down the Dock. Tall Ships will be moored on Town Quay by Morrisons.
The event is great opportunity for people to see Severn and learn about her history.
