The Club had a virtual visit from Julie Barton Cumbria’s High Sheriff on Friday May 23rd a very windy day.
This is what she said on her facebook site.
“Today I met virtually with Arnside Sailing Club. It was great to hear how Arnside Sailing Club is a thriving community club which promotes sailing through training schemes available to everyone.
Grants from Cumbria Community Foundation have helped it purchase a catamaran suitable for older teenagers enabling them to continue sailing with the club as they grow older and progress their skills. I was also interested to hear of their new plans to offer paddle boarding to local children; a sport that can be taught and enjoyed whilst maintaining social distancing.
Considering the strong winds today, for once I was happy to meet virtually and appreciate from a distance all the good work their volunteers do. ”
