Evening Concert: Dave Walters supported by Lune Tide, Sat 8.30 pm

Dave Walters, singer, songwriter, guitarist and sailor began his lifelong passion for songs and sailing in Fleetwood, Lancashire, where he co-owned a Crossfields-built Morecambe Bay Prawner, Pastime. This became the subject of ‘Ballerina’, a song he recorded for his third solo album Kites. (SHY7017) in 1982. His debut 1977 album, Bound To Go Sailing was one of the Lake District based Fellside label’s early recordings. (FE004). You can hear a video of Dave singing “Ellen”, a song about a ship wrecked off Newfoundland https://youtu.be/amIkB52PELg

His current project is a unique collection of songs and poems: Soul Sailing. In a performance that reflects a love for our maritime heritage and his own Celtic roots, he is accompanied by a driving rhythmic picking style on a selection of English made guitars.

Lune Tide are a folk duo from Sunderland Point, south of Lancaster, a village approached by a tidal causeway. They sang “The Severn Song” at the end of the BBC Villages by the Sea Programme about Arnside. See a video of them singing on You Tube https://youtu.be/uSKBjZbTpAc
